Becasue is an important war in our past and if we hadn't we may have had some of those issues today.

Why did we learn about the civil war? I think so we will know why are state is how it is today like one president and the congress. Also to see how it was different between the North and the South. Some people might want to be in congress now from see how it was back then. Also we look to the past to see if we did anything wrong that we won't do the same mistake again. Maybe we do it for fun to learn about our history and then have a test on it!!

Mr. Roberts said...

Ha Ha Rissi, Yeah it's just for fun so we can have a test on it!!

Why do we study the civil war? i think that we study the civil war because it is a huge part of our nation's history. I would have never known that our country was ripped apart ever if we didn't study it! it shows the huge differences betweeen the north and the south. It is very fun to see what happened before we got here! Althiugh, I do agree with Rissi, we might study it just for another test!

I think that we study the civil war because it teaches us about the history of our country. I also think that we learn about the civil war because it makes us smarter, and many people find it very interesting subject. Lastly, i think that we learn about it because it shows us how things are the way they are and how they came to be that way. I liked learning about the civil war.

Why do we study the civil war? I think we study it just because we are in U.S. History and some would argue that it’s the biggest part of our History. It’s a) the bloodiest war in American History b) where are nation was separated and we were fighting within our country. That is why I think we study the civil war. I also agree with Rissi just for another test.

Anonymous said...

I think we should study the civil war because its an important part of our history. If we did not have this war we might still have the same problems they did then. And its also important to learn about the civil war so we dont make the same mistakes twice.

We study the civil war because it was an important part of our nation's history.

*It resolved issues over slavery and secession.
*It was one of the first major disagreement the nation had.
*The civil war had an effect on our constitution. (13th Amendment)
*It helped form a more standard government.

So over all we study the civil war because it had an impact on our nation with government and peoples' rights.

I think we should study the civil war because it was in our past. It made up our country and where were at today and now we know what went on here. I also think it's good because it took a big part in our nations past.Thats why we study it.
I also agree with rissi just for tests!!!

Mr. Roberts said...

RE: Emilie1 D2P6

That is a great argument for why we study the Civil War. It did resolve some major issues. I think we still have a lot of racial issues left over even today from what happen back then. What do you guys think?

Anonymous said...

Morgan d1p6

I think we study and learn about the civil war so we know what our past was like. like how the south wanted to leave the union. I mean thats soo mean it probobly heart the norths feelings that they wanted to leave them. And the South owning slaves. That is so racsist. anyways the civil war was a powerful war and a BIG turning point in american history!

RE: Rissi d2p6
I agree with you about the test thing except its not all that fun (just kidding) (kinda)

Why do we study the cival war?How has it impacted our nation? these are questions that wander in 7th grade. the cival war has changed our world as we see now.it has told us that everyone is created equal. it doesn't matter if your a different race or your hair is a unique color or cut differently. it matters whats inside of you. and if the cival war never was in our history , many people will be suffering and lives will be at risk.we also wouldn't discover famous people like martin luther king jr or louis armstrong.these two men had already helped along.now it should be us who should change the future to make it a better place to live in.we also study to get grades and have difficult tests.=)

RE:kaileeD1P6
i agree with kailee with how the cival war made our country and how we live today.=)

Anonymous said...

you should study the civil war because you can learn a lot about it.You could laern about all the major battles, key figures.Re:connor D1P6, I definetly think we study about the civil war, because we really don't wanna have another one. And also, you could learn about the "March To The Sea" which was a HUGE part of the war. So yeah, really study about the civil war.

Anonymous said...

Why did we study the cicil war? I think we did so we could learn about what our country has been through with fighting eachother (south and north) over a simple cause, slavery. Now learning about the Civil War is a big part of knowing your american histoy because it is the biggest battle ever faught in the U.S. It taught me a lot about the past and our heroes of America i think this is the most important unit we will learn this year.

Anonymous said...

brittany d2p1
yeah i agree because if the Civil War never happend most of the slavery and racist problems would still be around in today's life.

Anonymous said...

I think we studied the civil war because we all need to know how are nation came to be how it is, I mean really if we didnt know this we would think that every one always got along!!!!! and plus we wouldnt now wat are great grandfathers are talking about and we might start staying awake for the stories!!!!!!!
RE:rissi d2p6
Ya your right just for another test!!!!!!!!!!!And this is fun!! i really injoy it !!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

I think we studied the civil war to see how life was like back then. We can compare it to our soldiers lifestyles now, like their hygene, clothes, guns, and more. Also it was a huge war and we need to know about our country's history!

Anonymous said...

There had to be infinate reasons we learned about this war. A more oblivious one had to be the fact that it was one of the bigest wars in American history, if not the most. It was also important for America moving along as a country, realizing what is right and wrong. It ended slavery, well for the most part, for pete sakes! No offence or anything, but to not know why we learned about this war you would have to be pretty dull.

Plus, you have to admit, the Civil War was pretty interesting. Hey, even a few entertaining movies went along with it.

Anonymous said...

Why do we study civil war? I think the main reason is so we learn about what went on in are past and in history. It also is a great way for us to know all of the differences between the north and south. I also think its good to learn about the civil war because without that war, we would still have the same problems we did back then! Plus the civil war was probably the biggest turning point in history. So, that is why I think we study the civil war.
(ohh and yeah morgan it probably did hurt the norths feelings!haha)

Anonymous said...

I think we study the civil war so we don't make the same mistakes twice and so we understand how America came to how it is today.Just think if we had one again now-a-days!How far technology as gone, you wouldn't be safe anywhere! That would be WHACK TURKEY!

Anonymous said...

I think we studied the Civil War because it is Mr. Robert's job to teach us about U.S. history. Isn't that what a Social Studies teacher is for? But anyways it's interesting what the Civil War may have done for us today. If we didn't have the Civil War probably would still have slavery.[Although we still have it today here and there....]

Anonymous said...

haleyy d1p3

i think we study the war because its a major event in our history.
it was the time when our country abolished slavery. if we didnt have the civil war we might still have slaves today. our country would have been way different. our government laws would've been different too. we learn about the civil war because it shows the differnce netween what is is and what it could have been.

RE:emillie d2p6
i agree it did have a huge impact on our country!

Anonymous said...

I agree with Brittany d21. I think that we study the civil war becasue it was a big war and becasue slavery was a big part of US history. All the wars were about slavery and we finally got to the point where the 13th ammendment was passed. If we hadn't had the civil war we maay have still had slavery today.

Mel D2 P3
Why do we study the Civil war? I think so we know what are states were like back then. Maybe to learn about how the south and the north were different. To learn about president lincoln and what it was like to be in office during a big war that helped shape our nation. To learn about how slavery was abolished. Maybe if it wernt for Lincoln and the 13th Amendment, We still might have slavery.

R.E Faith D2 P1
I agree with Faith, It is Mr. Roberts job to teach us U.S history. I also agree with the slavery part, We posibly could still have it today.

Anonymous said...

I think we studied the civil war for the following reasons...
It settled disagreements over slavery
It brought the south back into the country
Finally because it goes into detail about how deadly war can be( how bad it is)

Anonymous said...

I think we studied the civil war for so long because it was a very important time in American history.
Not only was slavery abolished completely but it also kept our nation together. I couldn't think of how our country would be without the south. There would be so many things different in history!

RE: Paul d2p3

I agree paul, that would be WACK TURKEY

I think we study the civil war because it is a way to learn about our past. How slaves were treated. Slaves being whipped if they did something the "wrong" way. Just think about what they went through just to get what you have today. We study the civil war because it was a huge point in our history. When we get our rights. I enjoyed learning about the civil war.

Sabrina D1P6 (DOPS)

RE:
funny funny rissi, we do it for fun. hahahahahaha!!!!
I also agree with Faith. We still could have slvery now if it wasn't for the 13th amendment.

Why we Study the Civil War??? I dont Know??? JUST KIDDING!!

Why we Study the Civil War??
I think that we studied the war because it had such a huge impact on the country. It was one of the most bloodiest battles in the USA history. We also learn how slaves became free slavery could have gone on for along time without this battle. It set the government in a horrible Debt it and that shows it can happen because it has happend before therefore can happen again. It also teaches us that our country isnt perfect and we all have different opinions that can be heard (The 1rst Ammendment.) And that war did have positive things and negative things. Positive outcome-The Slaves were freed. Negative outcome-COuntry was in a HUGE debt that takes multiple years to be paid off.The civil war is very important for us to learn about what can happen if the country starts to break apart.

RE:Rissi D1P6

HAAA I agree with the fun to learn and then take a test on it! [(Well exept the learning part I agree with Morgan =o)]

RE:Taylor D1P6

I agree with the that it doesnt matter what you look like on the outside its whats on the inside.

Anonymous said...

i think we study the civil war to learn what happened to our country in the past. I would have never known that our country got ripped apart. It was a HUGE turning point in our history! I still cant beleive that all this happened mostly all on one thing, slavery.
I wonder what would have happened if slavery never began...

Anonymous said...

D1P3 Camelia We study the civil war to learn what happened a long time ago. One of the major facts of the war was it ended slavery also so its good that slavery is over thanks to lincon we might still have slavery.re:mel The 13th amendment was all about slavery. So over all i think it is good if we learn about slavery in school.

Anonymous said...

Why we study the civil war is because it is part of our history and we should know about how our country has been molded and shaped into what it is today.

RE Paul, I also think that is another major reason for studying the war.

Anonymous said...

We studided the Civil War because it changed our nation's history and it led to the 13th Amendement that ended slavery. It was and is the biggest war in the united states to this day and normal every day things would've been so different if it never would've taken place. It was really cool to watch glory because you really got to feel what they went through at the time.

RE: Mel, I agree how if the civil war never would've happened we might still have slaves today and that's pretty hard to think about.

And props to mr. roberts for keeping the class awake i'm pretty sure we thought it was going to be boring, but this unit was cool

Anonymous said...

Why Did we learn about the civil war?
I think its to learn about our past. The differences between the north and the south and how they treated the slaves back then.So we can treat them better then before the 13th amendment.

(Off topic but i think the civil war unit was interesting and "it was awesome" (Says me) and glory was good.

GLORY was the best movie ever!!!! :-)

RE: Logan
agree with Logan with how they argued about the slavery issue.

it's like now.

Re: paul d2p3
I agree we dont whant to have another
civil war and because of how far are tecnologies come it would be WHACK TURKEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Why did we study the civil war? I think we did because it was the largest and most important war ever fought in U.S. history. Also because it was between the north and south, which showed how different the two sections were.

RE:Faith
I agree with Faith, because if we didnt have the war or the 13th amendment, slavery would probably still take place today.

Anonymous said...

I think we study the civil war so that we know what our country went through to get its freedom! because if we didnt learn about it we would just be like, "hmm.... what did we do to get to where we are today?? oh well!" and then we would go on to our everyday lives, always wondering, or.... maybe not. but the point is we should know about our past! :)

RE: PAUL

I think we learned about the civil war and spent so much time on it because it is a large chunk of what happened when our country when our country was newish and because in USA's history and future there is a good chance that there will never be another war like it. Also because the result- slaves being free- was a huge change from what it used to be.

Anonymous said...

Why do we learn about the civil war? I think we learn about it so we know what the past of our country was like and how it has improved in many regions.Take slavery for example, if Abraham Lincoln wouldn't have presented the Emancipation Proclamation and then the writing of the 13th amendment then, who knows we might still have slavery in the U.S. Also we could still have conflicts between the North and the South causing many other problems. Thanks for being an awesome teacher!

I believe that we learn about the Civil War, because it has left a huge impact on our society, and because that if this hadn’t happened, black people would still be enslaved to white people. Martin Luther King Junior would not be famous. There would be no black voters. There would be differences from now and then, but it would probably be that there would still be slaves. So much was achieved by this that we should have a holiday for it, but we don’t. It was also a victory against rebellion and for unity of our nation. If the south seceded and we did nothing then we would have two nations instead of one and we would be weaker internally. If someone allied with the south or the north later on, they could take large amounts of land and wealth.

By Arthur D2 P1

Anonymous said...

There are many important reasons we study the civil war. Just think of how different things would be if the South had won the war. There would still be slaves. Then the rest of the world would become angered and cut the south off from the rest of the world. Just like
communist Cuba. Then they would make the finest cigars, next to Cuban cigars. But the rest of the world would be boycotting american goods so our economy would suffer greatly. And that would be even more WHACK TURKEY than what that paul d2p3 guy said that I do not know. But I think the main reason we study the civil war is to remember and honor the brave men that took part in it.

RE: I agree with that Paul d2p3 guy that technology and daily life was deeply affected by the civil war.

Re: Conner I agree that we needed the war so we don't have it happen again.

Why study the civil war? If we don't learn about the mistakes we made in the past, those same things could happen again. Like, if we hadn't learned that slavery was a huge problem, it could still be happening.

Why do we study the civil war? I think we study the civil war because it was our first war within the nation and the most bloodiest war ever in the history in our nation. Also if it weren't for this war we may still have slavery. I think that is why se study the civil war.

RE: Mel D2 P6

I think we study the civil war so we can learn how slavery was banished for the U.S.A and so we can learn about people like Abraham Lincoln and how people like him are heros too our country. I also think studied the civil war because it was a huge leason on why slavery and secession was a big deal. If it wasn't for people like Lincoln, we still might have had slavery today.

I think we studied the civil war because it was an important part in our history. It wasn't the best thing we've ever done but it helped us in the future it showed us how bad slavery was and how its a disgrace to our society. Without having the civil war African Americans would still be enslaved and men wouldn't have equal rights
RE Rissi

I think we learn about the civil war because it completly changed our nation. Without the civil war there would still be slavery in the south. Also the north and south would still eb seperate. The civil war united our nation and ended the opression of african americans. We need to learn about the Civil War so nothing like it ever happends again.

Well i believe we learned about the civil war because it made one of the biggest impacts on the society today. Knowing that blacks would still be enslaved and many famous people would have never become famous. Why study the Civil War?
i think we should study it because we should know how and why the present, was developed in, our past. it tells up the reasons why slavery was ended, how we vote, why we have laws, how our country was separtated from britin, and how we are free. so in conclusion, i think people should know many things happen in our history and we should know about it because it was how this country came to be what it is today.

RE: i also agree with gema that i would have never own that pur country was ripped apart!

Why did we learn about the civil war ? It shows that our country isn't perfect. Our country has its differences, and opinions. Our government doesn't always agree on every decision and the civil war proves that even though we have differences, we still have to compromise and agree to something fair and just.

Anonymous said...

why did we study the war? i think we did because not everybody nows what realy happened. we just thin it happened in a year length and it was about slavery who cares, but what everybody doesn't know is slavery was just of the many reasons why we did study it.

everyone does make mistskes even the government makes its own mistakes.

re:rissi d2 p6

i think that the reason why we study about the civil war is because i think no matter what other people say that this was the most important war that the united states ever had because this had a good reason for fighting. it was for others benefits and we were doing it to stick up for people who were just like us but they just looked different. i think we study it partially because we want to study it. it is a really interesting war and to find out how we fought and how life was back then. to see how much we really take for granted that others had to fight for especially the African Americans. they really take for granted how much freedom they have compared to how much their ancestors had. i am just happy my ancestors didn't have to go through that emotional pain and agony. we study ti civil war because we should no matter how you feel about war, if your a pacifist then your out of luck cause your missing out on a great story. it's something we need to learn about.

why do we study the civil war... i think because it was a major battle in the us history. It determined if we would be one country or two the union and confederates. Also because we learn the mistakes that our country made in the past by keeping slaves and the south wanting to be independent.

I think that we studyed the civil war because then we could learn about what happened in the past with are contrey. We also could see how all the mayjor points of the civil war an the things that could have happen to change the futer an what the world could have been now.I also think it was one of the united states biggest battles they had.

We learned about the civil war because we were learning how slaves worked and what their life was like. What if the war ended with the south winning would we still have slaves or would we have another war?

I typed mine along time ago just I guess it did not get through even though the yellow bar popped up so I am starting a new one.

I think we studied the civil to show discrimination between the north and the south. Since abolitionists convinced the north that slavery was not needed people who heard their speeches were so influenced by it we had a war. Also it was powerful that through all this cummotion the country did not collapse(the south seceeded but that was not forever). The war also effected the way outr lives are today. For example, instead of the UNITED states of america it would most likely be the seperate states of america. It would become this by since the south created their own country why couldn't states make their own country if they wanted their way. Also if the government did not make a law that you can't seceede then the government would be torn apart and all the states would collapse. Finally it strentghened our country because if we can withstand a civil war we can withstand almost anything.
RE: I also agree with Rissi that this was a fun unit but I have to disagree with the test part though because I already have enough tests but if we did have another test I'd ace it of course.
RE: Also I agree with kelsey on why would you not want to learn about your countries bloodiest war.

Why did we study the civil war? We learned about the civil war because learning about the past helps us understand our country.

Anonymous said...

The main reason we learned about the cilvil war is cause its always good to know about your countrys past history. Also, that is one of the main thing in the past that got us to were we are today. We should be proud of our country for all they did for us.So the next time you heer someone say something bad people did in the past remind them wat they did right.

We study the civil war beacause we need to know why our lives are the way they are. Just to know what happened back then. It's nice to know all the famous people from along time ago. It's also a major time in our history.

We learned about the civil war because it is part of our country's history-we are in history class after all. Also like kelsey D1P6 it’s the bloodiest war in american history. And like my dad says history is important for knowing the why in things like the war we're in now. It might be from some issue with America in the past? (A little off topic I know). So if we get in another war soon the cause of it might be something from around the Civil War.

Note to Mr. Roberts it didn't work the first time it said this under my text though: Comment moderation has been enabled. All comments must be approved by the blog author.

I believe we should study the Civil War because, it teaches us a part of our history. It shows us what the white(s), what we use to be like. It shows us how we used to treat people that wern't the same as us,,,,(we didn't treat them so good.)It shows us what the Union and Confederates went through,,the struggle, the hard times, the triumph, and the great achivments. It shows us how we industrialize from the beginning to the end of the War. We should study it so we don't make the same mistakes we made during the Civil War. -Hailee D1P3

i think we studied the civil war because it was the only civil war fought in America. if the south won it would have changed the way we lived today.

Anonymous said...

Connor d1 p3
These are some reasons why i think i should know about Americas past.

Knowing about the Civil War now will prepare me for what is coming in my future classes. And like hailee d1p3 said it tells use about the hard times they went through.

Why do we study the civil war?
We study the civil war because it helps us not make mistakes they made, it tells us how a war can start, and it tells us the reason for why they fought. The civil war gives us a lot of what to do and what not to do. The civil war is important and it helped us get the rights we have.

I think we study the civil war because it was an important event in our nations history. It was important because it pulled the south back into the united states. Another reason is that it defined what was constitutional. Also because of the civil war we created two new amendments. So that is why I think we study the civil war.

re: Amanda d2p3 I agree with you on how it showed us how far we have come as a country.

There are many reasons we study the civil war. One is the fact that it ended slavery. Another is that waaaaaay different. Another reason would be that it effected our economy, without the South, we wouldn't have all that cotton. Those are some of the reasons we study the civil war.

Anonymous said...

The civil war was very important to the U.S. It ended slavery which gave freedom to all people. It helped give us our name; The United States. If the union(anti-slavery part of the U.S.) had not attacked the south(wanted slavery)there would not have been the united states. There would have been separate countries and separate names.
Another reason to study the civil war is because it was our own history.

The reason why I think we should studies the Civil War is that so we don't make the same mistakes like they did,and its important to know all the trouble they went know how our came back together and the separation(like Hailee said)all the racesism, all the hatred, terrible times. But I finally understnded the sybol on the"Genral Lee"the "Dukes of Hazzards" car.The confederates flag. But thier allot more then that.We just need to keep on keepin on.

I think its good we studied the civil war because it is the most important war America ha ever fought.
If we would not of fought the ciil war then our country would not of been the way it is. It changed our country in many good ways. The only bad thing about it is that we lost millions of pepole.
If we didnt fight the civil war our country would not of fought WW1 and WW2.Fighting the civil war had some positive and negatives. Millions of pepole died but but we got back our great country we have today

Anonymous said...

The civil war was a unique war and it defined us as a nation. One other good reason I think we study the civil war is because it freed the slaves and brought together the north and south. Also, the civil war happened in the united states, our country!

Anonymous said...

I agree with amanda when she said that we study because it teaches about our country and our past of were we live now .

Anonymous said...

I agree with lindsay about were our country has been and how it was then and the difference from how it is now and its easy to know what and how it came to be with history

Anonymous said...

I think we study the civil war to learn why the Confederacy fought with the union. One of the biggest reasons was that the South thought they should have slaves and wanted to be their own country. So thats why the North and the South fought.

Anonymous said...

The reason we studied the civil war was because it was a big part of our country's history. If we didn't study the civil war we would not know how America came to be.It is important that we know that many great figures were associated with this war. Without fighting this war we would not have the other war and battles to our country's history.

Anonymous said...

We study the civil war because we want to learn more about it.We want to find out more about what kind of weapons, strategy, and what life was like back then.So we can teach it to younger people that don't know much about it.

Anonymous said...

i think it is good learn about the civil war because it taught us how important it is to tick together as a country and if we stick together we will be a better country we wont be as good if we are a half

i think cam tom and drew did good it is good to know what other people learned. like drew said it is good to now what they went through

Anonymous said...

I think that we studied the civil war because it explains how we came to be the United States of America. If we didn't talk about the civil war I might still think that General Lee was the car from Dukes of Hazards

Anonymous said...

Why do we study the civil war?
I think there is a few reasons to that but one is.. if this war never happened then imagine this country now... maybe no south which would take A LOT from what America is today also, It shows that everything happen s for a reason and all countries have conflicts from time to time and this happened to be one of them. Also like Drew D1P3 said it also kind of simbolizes a lot of things also like in movies.

We study the Civil War to understand the differences between the North&South...to understand why the South succeeded. Learning of the differences and knowing the weaknesses the country had, makes the nation Stronger!!! If we didn't learn about the Civil War...we could make the same judgmental mistakes again!!! AND we wouldn't even understand the difficulties the country went through at that time and the solutions we used to fix them!!! We learn about our country's past, to make the future better!!! And to make things worse... teenagers just go on not caring about the past because they didn't have to go through it, while they whine to their parents, complaining about how they want this, everybody has this so they NEED to have it to and whenever their parents try to say "When I was you're age our televisions were in black and white!" And not realizing how great there life is they just shriek "Well that was ages ago! I want HBO !!!!" The thing is we don't notice that our generation is so ungrateful that we don't care about anything but what is the newest "thing"!!!!! Who cares about what is the newest "thing"!!!! The future becomes the past in just a millisecond and our future is happening now!!! We need to see that those who were living during the Civil War were worrying if they would ever have a future or if they would ever survive a Nation Numbing Depression...they were living every moment as if it were their last and thanking god they made it through that bankrupt time!!!!! Well, those who actually DID live through it were thankful... those who were dead...well...they didn't thank anybody because they we're dead!!!!! THERE ARE MANY REASONS TO LEARN ABOUT THE CIVIL WAR...OR EVEN ANY OF OUR NATIONS HISTORY...BECAUSE IT AFFECTS EVERY DAY IN OUR LIVES!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Why we study the civil war?I think we do because it was a huge part of our nations history and we should know about it.Reading about it also means we know the differens between north and south. And we still might have slavery or a lot more racism too.

Why do we study the civil war? I think we study the Civil War because its our countries history, and also because our history is important to the United States. Most of all i think we study the civil war because the civil war had a big impact on our nation. It changed our country and brought us together.

Why did we study the civil war?I think we studied the civil war because it was a big part of are country I believe that it was the biggest war we have ever had.We also study it because than we can learn from are mistakes in the paste so we wont make the same mistakes . also if we didn't have this war the world could still have these same problems.

Anonymous said...

RE:brit I agree with him that if we wont have learned about the war we wouldn't have known about all the people involved in the war and just known that there was a war.

Anonymous said...

Why did we study the Civil War? I think we studied it because if we didn't we wouldn't know about the great men and women who fought for what they believed in, how hard it was for the African Americans at the time, and how different people thought about important things like slavery for example.

I agree with Anya that it is our country's history and it's important to the United States.

i agree with emily 3 because it was a huge part of are nations history and i didnrt know either that our nation was ripped apart. i also agree with katie we might still have some problems now if that war wasnt faught.

Anonymous said...

Why did we learn about the civil war? I think we did because if we didnt, problems that we had back then we would have today and without it our nation would probably still be divided and not together.

Anonymous said...

i agree with emily 3 because if the kids of today didnt know about the civil war the history of it could just stop and not be told about.

Anonymous said...

we study the civil war so we learn about the past and so it never happens again.re emily we study the civil war becuase it is a huge part of our nation

Anonymous said...

We study the Civil war so then we know what leads up to certain events
and what exactly our history is.There are some people that didn't study the civil war have no idea what Pickett's charge was or who Ulysses S. Grant was!!! Can you believe that?!We also study the civil war so if we end up in a government crisis we know what might happen to us.

Anonymous said...

I think we study the civil war because without it a lot of bad things that happened back then could be happening right now, like there could be slavery, or the north and south could be separate countries. It shows us what has happened in the past, and how it's so different than the present.

Anonymous said...

Why we learned about the civil war i think was because it was an important mark on our nations past. Also to look at the differences between the people in our nation. And thats why i think we learned about the civil war

why we study the civil war, we study the civil war because people need to learn about the past and it was a huge part in our national history.

I think we study the civil war because alot of stuff happens to our country. We loose states witch secede, presidents who are elected and presidents who are killed. Amendments are posted witch happen to end slavery. Also we look at the improvements that we have made industrial wise, economic wise ect

Anonymous said...

i think we studied the civil war to show in detail a huge turning point in U.S. history. in depth it showed us not only was it about slavery but shed light on other issues such as rights that were later fixed governmentally. it also showed how after the problem was fixed there was still segregation and racism. It showed how far we have came and how we improved and is essential knowledge to an American citizen.
