Should the United States of America be an imperial nation?
That is the question I want you to consider. There is evidence supporting the idea that we should not be and there is plenty of evidence supporting why we should be to some extent. Now you get to be the decision maker. Write your answer to this question in a constructed response. That means you should include a topic sentence giving your opinion and then follow up sentences should include evidence that supports that opinion. This should be now shorter than 5 sentences. Yes, I think the United States should've been an imperial nation because we have a lot of people for an army. We won against the british without an organized army. Think of what we could've done with an organized one. If we were an imperial nation we could make allies with the smaller countries and then make one big nation to take on our world enemies. That's why I think we could have been an imperial nation.
No I think the United States sould not been an Imperial nation. Because that would not be nice if we would take A small country but if it were a enemies then i would take it so they would not do any thing to the United States.thats why i think we shouldnt have been a imerial nation.

Yes, i think we should be an imperal country. We could gain a lot of power and money and still hold our place as a super power country. I like the way we live its way better than what other countries have to go throuhg so why should we change? Not to sound selfish or anyting. We also have a lot more resource because we are an imperal country. I agree with what Mr. Roberts said in class that we are rich because other countries are poor. Its horrible to think but its true. Therefore, i think we should be an imperal country.

We have to protect more countries and not just care about us.
We have to spend a lot of money to help the other countries out.
I think that america shouldn't be imperialistic because if other countries start to hate us, we could go straight to world war 3. Then, everyone would be PO'd, lots of people would die and the world would be in turmoil.
Also, if other countries have resources and we take them for our own use, they might want to go to war.
Anyway, we can't afford to have another war. The war in Iraq has already cost us almost 1 trillion dollars. So I think we shouldn't be imperialistic.

i do not think the united states should become an imperial nation becuase i think we would start turning into a dictator. Russia was an imperialist nation at one time and they did not do so good. i think that if we were, then the way our country is, would change. yes, we would gain a lot more money but, we would turn into a nation that only overrules and does really nothing for other countrys. our country is considered the "good guys" and if we do not want to turn like russia, than i think we should stay away from imperialism. i agree with hunter because no, it would not be nice if we just took over smaller countries for money even when they were just fine before we came.
I think the U.S. should not have been an imperialistic nation. The reason I think this, is because it is not fair to the other little countries. Usually the other countries don't want to give up some of their things to a country that already has enough. I know life isn't fair but it is wrong taking over over a country just for resources and money. Most countries aren't rich like us, so the money and resources that could of had should stay in the country that is not as wealthy as us.
I agree with Haley, that we should be an imperialistic country. I think that we should be an imperialistic country because if other countries need help we can help the because we have the power to help them. Also, I think that we shoulnd't get to involved somethimes, because in some previous cases we have gone just a step to far. We shouldn't just walk in and say we're going to help you because some countries don't need or want our help and that could cause us to lose a lot of allies. So i guess i see both sides but over all i think that we should be imperialistic to a point. Not just walk in on a country, ask them if they need help and if they say yes then step in. That is why i think we should be imperialistic.

I think that the US should be a imperal country.If we are a imperal country then we have more power than any country out there and we would get most of the money and we do want power and money. I do also agree what Mr. ROberts said in class because yes we are rich because we are so powerful compared to the other country`s. That is why we should be a imperal country.
Yes,I think the United States should be an imperial nation. We have a lot of resources and money because of imperialism. I'm sure if America wasnt imperialist some peoples lifestyles would be very different. Also be being imperialists we gain allies, and its how the U.S. stays so wealthy. But we shouldnt have complete control over that country, we should give them more rights, such as voting rights. I think our country should not be an imperial nation. We should not be ganging up and taking over smaller nations. I now life is not fair but mabey we can make it be. Other nations would not like us and there would probly be more wars. If we were the smaller states I now I would wanted to be treated fair. That why think our country should not be imperial nation.
I think the u.s. should be an imperialistic country. Being a very wealthy country we should be using our money to help others. Also being imperialistic allows us to spread good ideas. Like stopping communism in the Vietnam war. Because we're imperialistic, we are helping in iraq. Helping give freedom and protection to those who need is a good benefit of imperialism. Though there are some bad things that come out of imperialism the good still out weigh the bad in my opinion. That is why I think the U.S. should be an Imperialist nation.
Re: I would like to comment cory d2p3 who says that because of imperialism American lives are being lost everyday. It's true people are dieing, but most of them are fighting for a cause they beleive in and chose to be in this position. Freedom comes at a price and that price is and always will be paid blood.
I think the U.S. should have imperialism but only use it on certain things.Like if we can take over a poor country we should but not make a big deal out of it, cause if the country is poor we should help it and not destroy it.If there is a country that we can take over we should because if they think we are a too rich of country then we should take advantage. That is when we should have imperialism but not if the country helps the U.S. because having imperialism can make more war between nations. That is why i think the U.S. should and should not have imperialism!
I think the U.S. should still have Imerialism because w/out it people wouldnt have the same lives, like Lauras comment w/money wise and stuff.People like Hunter think its not fair to take over poor contries.But if they were us and had power they'ed be doin the same thing to us.A plus thing about it is that we get allys and lots of $$. I do think our nation should be an imperial nation but not an over powering one. I think we should help nations if they are in trouble nd then they will remember us as good people and we will then gain allies if we get in trouble. I do not think that we should make their constitutions though we should supervise it a little and if we think that something isn't right then we should put our input of what we think. If they want to listen to us they will and if they don't they don't. That is why i think our nation should be an imperial nation.

I think the US should be an imperialistic nation. If our country wasnt imperialistic other countrys might take us over. Also if we get power and money from our colonys we can help other contrys like china. Imperialisum also helps spread ideas and inventions. One idea that was spread was Mcdonals, it is a good idea because people can get a meal fast and easaly. So that is why I think the US should be an imperialistic nation.
I don’t think the US should be an imperial nation, because then there are more people and countries that don’t like the US. I think the US should let other countries deal with their own problems unless they ask for help. I know the US gets more of what they want but that is selfish. We should really have more countries liking the US. If there are more countries liking the US then they will trust the US. It’s not fair to other countries that are controlled by other countries that they don’t really like.

Every country and every state wants power because that is one of the keys to wealth and wealth can provide your family and your country with food, supplies etc. Another reason is because if another country had the power the United States has then they would do the same – take everything. Being imperialistic also means being able to take other small countries in order to expand.
These are the reasons why theus should be a impiral nation.
We can help out other countrys in need of supplies if they are at war.We could give them supplies ,but if we go to far and stop lending them stuff they might get angry. But i think if we help a country out then they might return the favore when we are in need of something we don't have.I agree with amanda when she said if we have had other countrys join ours then we would've had stronger and more oganized army.

I think the nation should be impearialistic because we have some power over smaller countrys and if we go to war we can try to get troops from the smaller countrys for help. I know there is some flaws but thats the way life just is nothings perfect. If we lose a country we have the power to try and get it back. when we have all the countrys they could rebel but we have all the other smaller country to help us either fight then or just force them back.
I think the US should be an imperial nation because we can use our power to help other smaller countries. We can also make allies with the small country and put in a naval or army base to help us expand even more. Being imperialistic also allows us to get more resources from other places that we can't get here, like pinnapples from Hawaii. That is why i think we should be imperialistic.
I agree with Laura that if we weren't an imperial nation, we would be much less wealthy and our lifestyles would be very different.
