What Caused the Civil War?




You have been presented with various opinions on the causes of the Civil War in the "What Caused the Civil War?" assignment. So ... which one do you believe the most? I agreed with the one about the north and souths differences. I felt it described the best to me by saying their point of views.

I agree with #63 the most. The people in the South needed slavery to keep their economy in check, and they couldn't just turn it off like a switch, like many of the Northerners wanted them to do. If they did, the economy would fail and there would be chaos. It would be like telling the North to stop using horses or coal. So they obviously couldn't just end it, even if they wanted to. That set the foundation for major conflict.
