Should the United States of America be and imperial nation?
That is the question I want you to consider. There is evidence supporting the idea that we should not be and there is plenty of evidence supporting why we should be to some extent. Now you get to be the decision maker. Write your answer to this question in a constructed response. That means you should include a topic sentence giving your opinion and then follow up sentences should include evidence that supports that opinion. This should be now shorter than 5 sentences. I think it is alright to have power but sometimes too much power can hurt. If you have too much power you think to well of yourself which may cause us to override other nations making many of them unhappy and when they rebel problems could start.
I think the united states shouldn't be an imperial nation because other nations would think of us as the bad nation and pick fights with us alot more than any other country. if we were an imperial nation our colonies wouldn't like us ruling them and they not having a say in what happens to them or there country.That is why I think we shouldn't be an imperial nation.
I think the United States should not be and imprerial counrty becasuse for one we wanted our own freedom when the British had control over us. Second of all most countrys are fine by themselfs, they don't need the U.S to come in and take over, they are fine on thier own. I think the U.S has to big of a ego and think they rule the world. When in reality they dont. Each country has its own government and laws, and it should stay like this unless some one WANTS to be conjoined with the U.S.
I think we shouldn't be an imperial nation because well for starters when England tried to take over, we didn't like it one bit. If we did take over other countries then they would loose there culture and every one in the world would be the same. Boring! Also if we did rule other countries they might after awhile they could get angry at us and start a war for their freedom. So in the end if England did it to us and we didn't like it, then why should we do it to other countries.
I think the US shouldn't be an imperial nation for many reason. For one, We hated when Britian bossed us around, and made up all our rules. If we were and imperial nation we would be doing the same thing that british did to us to other countries. Another reason I dont think we should be an imperial nation because I think countries should be able to make their own decisions, we want our independence,and so would they! I think its all great and everything to help out when our help is WANTED, not just barge in when we think a law should be changed, or we think things should go different, unless they need supplies, or help picking up after a national disaster then I think we should control the U.S ONLY, and let the other countries handle themselfs.I pretty much agree with what hailey was saying. This is why I think we shouldn't be an imperial nation.
I think we should'nt be an imperial nation because people in other countries might resent us because of our power.It puts us in a very bad position with the rest of the world. Sure there are some positives but the outcome would most likly to turn out negitive. We might also get in to more war. We also lose money to help people after natural disaters in other parts of the world the government should let us choose if we want to pay. We just need to back off!
I think the U.S. shouldn't be an imperial nation because we are like the boss of everyone then. For one example the U.S. wouldn't like it if we were being bossed around by another country. Two, many countries would be enemies with us then. Three we use a lot of the resources to help out other countries when we could be using the resources ourselves. That is why i think the U.S. should not be an imperial nation.
I don't think that we should because when you have a lot of power your tend to use it the wrong way. for instance, taking other countries land isn't a very nice or fair thing to do. just because we are stronger doesn't mean we should "throw our weight around." we would probably get into more wars and fights with other countries also, and no one likes war. why should we take over someone else's land, its rightfully theirs. We didn't like it when Britain did it to us, so why should we do it to others? if we became an imperial nation then everyone would be the same with no veriety whatsoever, NOT A GOOD THING!
In my opinion i don't think the u.S should be an imperialistic nation because it affects the world in too many negative ways.

i agree with nick d2p6 because he said imperialstic nations tend there wait around. We also may get in more disagreements because countries may not like us as much because we affect their culture.
I think that the united states should NOT be an imperial nation. My reasoning is :
1: i think that other countries need freedom and they should be able to decide what is wrong and what is right based on what they think not what we think.
2: we may be gaining more land but we are also taking land from other people and that can form bad relationships with those countries which could possibly lead to war.
3: as we are taking and gaining resources the other countries are losing all of their rights to control them and they don't get their equal share.
overall i think that the us being an imperial nation is the wrong thing to do because it is basically a major conflict that could end up starting a war.
Yes and no because the u.s.a helps out to much of other countries thats why we were in debt, but we've also have done a lot of good stuff, like helping other countries form war, and natural disasters. If we don't have enough money to support our troops with ammo and guns then we are a weak spot. I think we should help just enough so the country can get throw bad times.
I think we shouldn't be imperial power just like Kayla said when England over ruled us we didn't like it. Other people won't like being over powered by us either. Also what Ryan said it could be good or bad. It’s the way you look at it. The stronger you are the more people will band together to defeat you so you aren't so strong. The colonies don't want some big ruler ruling them they want to rule them self so it is the way they wasn’t it.

i think the U.S.should be a imperial nation because we wont get into as many wars because no one wants to fight the bigger guy. 2nd we can help out other countries in case national disaster or if they need our help in a war. 3rd if a country dose something we dont like we can get them to stop, maybe. and brandon sometimes its worth it to go in to debt if we help a country out in need.
Should we be an imperial nation? I think we should, and another side of me thinks we shouldnt. Being an imperial nation that we sorta already are makes our country strong and put together. On the other side trying to take over countries and trying to change how they do things. its not fair. If its their country they should be able to say and do what ever they want with their country.
I think we shouldn't be an imperial nation because if we try other states would be angey and try to stop us. Other countries might try to attack us and take our land because we couldn't possibly defend ourselves and look after all of it at once. We would also have to worrie about riots and rebels in smaller areas where no one is watching. I can see why people might want us to be a imoperial nation. We would have more land, resourses and a bigger army. But having all of that would not be good. People would start to fight back, and the other nations would fight us. If we got much bigger, there would be no way to watch all the land.
No, I do not think that the U.S. should be an imperialistic nation because other countries really don’t want us in their own business! If you had a country up in your grill just to get some land or some resources, you should at least make them work for it a little bit! Really, it seems rude to barge in and just trace things that aren’t yours. Just think imperialism could get so bad that a country could start having a monopoly over other nations and parts of the world and it could get so out of hand that one person (country) could have power over the entire world! It probably wouldn’t happen but it could! Take when we were under the control of Brittan! We didn’t like that very muck now did we? It just seems wrong to me!

I think the United States shouldn't be an imperial nation because when we were ruled by Britain we didn't like it. If we turn around and start ruling other countries then they might not like it and we might have a lot of wars between countries. I think countries should decide their own fate, but as long as it doesn't involve any wars. However, I think we should help other countries in need.
I think we should be an imperial power because we can have military all over the world to help if a disaster strikes. Also we will have a better chance that if we have a war it will be in another country like Japan. We will also have a better trade with countries all over the world. The U.S. can also help other countries in need if a natural disaster hits. This is why I think the U.S. should be an imperial power.
I think that the United States shouldn't be an imperial nation because we worked so hard to get away from Britian so we could be free from their power on us and then we helped other countries be freed from the countries that ruled them so they could be free and then what do we do? We basically take almost complete control away from them in some places and tell them what to do and don't do. THAT IS NOT OKAY!! If we did that today, there would probably be major disagreement, fights, riots, possibly even another war. Now it is okay to be there for other countries in times of need, but not to be completely in their business.
I think we should have imperialism because... we are friends with other countries and have a lot of power. We trade with many countries to keep balance with in our economy. Without us being so powerful i think it would hurt us tremendously and other contries also.We also get to kinda boss the other countries around because we do have so much power. I agree with both sides. we should because because it gives us more power and more money,and there would be a greater chance of no war in the usa but i think we shouldn't be and imperialistic nation because if the other country wanted to be under the rule or rules of the usa they would have joined our country plus we would have a alot of countrys not liking us. No I do not think that we should become an imperial nation because we didn't like it when the British ruled over us when we were their colony. So if we didn't like it why would other countries like it if we didn't. And if we do that then other countries will start to get peeved at us. And the only reason I can think of for having this ability, is because we are power hungry.

Should America be an imperialistic nation? I think the only option is to be imperialistic. Colonies boost our economy. They are somewhat like veins too our nation. I know that it is hypocritical to break from Britain then create colonies of our own and treat them harshly; however we are not the only nation that is doing this. Colonizing is a way of adapting and growing stronger. Without it we remain the same nation, we harvest all of our resources, and Imperialistic nations prosper while we suffer. The United States of America being an imperialistic nation very well could lead to war. But I think if we don’t colonize and let other nations prosper soon we could be a very weak nation, easy to conquer. So being anti imperialistic also could very well lead to war. We don’t just dictate either. We give these people a fair and just government, a military to back them up, and people to have there backs when nature turns on them.
I think that are country should not be an imperial nation becuase...I think that we are loosing to much money and lives going to other countrys and to protect and help them out.For example, the war in Irag. The nation has spent trillions of dollars for supplies and food. let alone keep us on our feet is hard enough. An i think that we have enough protection here if a war was going to begin between us and another country because there jealous that were are not controling them. Its also wrong that we can just go to a country and control them and take there money.The countrys that this is happening to are just loosing freedom and trade goods because of us. And we dont want any other countrys starting a war with us because there jealous because we cant supply ourselves and another country at the same time while in a war. An thats why i think we should NOT be an imperial nation.

You can get allies and have other countrys s trust you. You also have the resources of the many coutrys you made allies with. You have a lot of trade that way too.
